Jack Merridew
Castle Rock
Isolated Island
Dear Jack,
Hello Jack. I know it is weird to write a letter to you since you consider me your enemy, but I don’t think we are. I don’t care who the leader of our group is, but I just want the group to be leaded to a right direction. Look, we are stranding on the island by ourselves and there are no adults, so we have to cooperate and make sure everyone is safe.
Would you please think about what are you doing? Don’t scare yourself and also make the other boys scared. I’m not convinced that the thing we thought we saw was a beast, but even if it is, it hasn’t done anything yet. So there is no need to hunt it yet. Don’t you remember we came from England? The English are not supposed to be savages. The grown-ups would not behave like this and they will be disappointed if they see this now.
We have to be recused and leave this island; don’t you miss your family? If we can keep the signal fire going, someone should be able to find us! This is not a game. We do not need to hunt and have meat all the time; there is a lot of food on the island for us to eat. If we do not keep the signal fire going, we may never go home. Never lose your hope, everyone wants to go back home.
Your Friend,
Ralph
